Le HCR aidera à promouvoir des projets communautaires à Kambia

Le HCR a décidé d'aider des communautés du district de Kambia, dans les régions du nord fortement endommagés par la guerre, à agrandir leurs écoles et leurs habitations, en prévision d'une affluence des rapatriés, a annoncé le HCR dans son dernier rapport sur la situation dans le pays.

L'institution des Nations Unies a pris cette décision à la suite des rapports des missions d'évaluation qui avaient effectué une visite dans le district en juin.

Le HCR a rapporté que des milliers de réfugiés sierra léonais se trouvaient toujours dans la région de Forecariah à l'ouest de la Guinée. "Certains d'entre eux se sont adonnés à l'agriculture", a-t-il ajouté, "et ne projettent pas de retourner avant les récoltes. Ceux qui étaient disposés au retour en ont été empêché par le manque d'abri et de nourriture dans leur pays".
