وافق البنك الدولي في 14 مايو/أيار على تخصيص منحة مالية بمبلغ 12 مليون دولار لرفع مستوى خدمات التخلص من النفايات في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية.
ويقول البنك الدولي أنه سيتم استغلال المنحة لتحسين خدمات التخلص من النفايات الصلبة بالنسبة للمجتمعات المحلية والمؤسسات التجارية في محافظتي بيت لحم والخليل وذلك عبر وسائل وطرق مقبولة اجتماعيا صديقة للبيئة.
وفقا لما ذكره بنك ، يتضمن المشروع مساعدات لتمكين جامعي النفايات غير الرسميين من تقديم خدمات مجدية تجاريا
