Prorogation du mandat du bureau des Nations Unies au Liberia (ONUL)

Le Conseil de sécurité des Nations Unies a prorogé d'une année le mandat du bureau des Nations Unies au Liberia, a annoncé lundi un communiqué des Nations Unies. Le bureau opérera jusqu'au 31 décembre 2002. La décision du Conseil de sécurité intervient à la suite d'une recommandation du Secrétaire-Général des Nations Unies, Kofi Annan. Le bureau des Nations Unies au Liberia, héritier de l'ancienne mission d'observation des Nations Unies au Liberia (ONUMIL), a constitué un lien politique utile entre le Liberia et la communauté internationale et a contribué à promouvoir le régime du droit, les droits de l'homme, la paix et la sécurité dans le pays, ont indiqué les Nations Unies.
