Prêt du FMI

Le Fonds monétaire international (FMI) a approuvé vendredi le versement de 12 millions de dollars au Sénégal pour un arrangement de trois ans dans le cadre de sa Facilité pour la réduction de la pauvreté et la croissance (FRPC) [Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF)]. Le FMI a indiqué dans un communiqué lundi que l'argent permettra au pays de poursuivre ses efforts en vue de la réduction de la pauvreté et de maintenir son économie qui, selon le directeur adjoint, Eduardo Aninat « continue de croître à un rythme solide ».

Le FMI espère aussi que l'argent sera utilisé pour résorber les déficits qui se sont accumulés dans les compagnies publiques de d'arachide et d'électricité. Le Sénégal est éligible pour recevoir environ 138 millions de dollars dans le cadre des trois années de la FRPC, approuvé en avril 1998. Jusqu'à présent, il a eu 101 millions de dollars, a informé le FMI.
