Départ des troupes pour la mission de maintien de la paix

Un premier contingent de 400 soldats a quitté le Ghana mercredi pour une mission de maintien de la paix en Sierra Leone, a rapporté la Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

A l'occasion de la cérémonie de départ, le directeur des Opérations de maintien de la paix, le colonel R. Debrah, a rappelé aux soldats la nature imprévisible et difficile des opérations en Sierra Leone, et les a invités à être les dignes ambassadeurs du Ghana. Le dernier contingent de 370 Casques bleus ghanéens partira le 16 septembre, a rapporté la GBC, citant un communiqué des forces armées.

L'effectif de la MINUSIL est légèrement inférieur à 17 000 hommes.
