Un ministre interpellé pour commerce illicite de diamants

Le ministre des Transports et des Communications de la Sierra Leone, Momoh Pujeh et son épouse ont été interpellés jeudi pour implication dans le commerce illicite de diamants dans le district de Kenema, à l'est du pays, selon des informations de la presse. Citant un communiqué de la Commission anti-corruption, la BBC a indiqué que M. Pujeh et son épouse étaient en possession d'une grande quantité de diamants. D'après certaines allégations, M. Pujeh aurait également introduit clandestinement des diamants aux Etats-Unis, a ajouté la BBC.

En dépit d'une interdiction gouvernementale, les activités d'extraction de diamants par les ex-combattants et par d'autres continue dans cette région orientale.
