Soutien d'ActionAid à l'éducation

Le chapitre ghanéen de l'organisation non gouvernementale internationale ActionAid a offert des ouvrages scolaires d'anglais et de mathématiques à huit écoles primaires à Tamale, dans la Région du Nord, a rapporté mardi le journal 'Daily Graphic'.

ActionAid a distribué 3 700 ouvrages de mathématiques et 3 200 manuels de la langue anglaise aux écoles de la région de Tamale cette année. ActionAid a indiqué que ses efforts étaient destinés à soulager financièrement les parents pauvres qui, chaque année, ont des difficultés à payer la fourniture scolaire et d'autres besoins, a ajouté le journal d'Accra.

L'ONG a également
construit des écoles pour les communautés pauvres de la région.

L'enseignement est obligatoire pour tous les enfants de six à seize ans. Le Ghana affiche un taux d'alphabétisation de 61.5 pour cent pour les femmes de plus de 15 ans, et de 79.4 pour cent pour les hommes dans la même catégorie d'âge, d'après le Rapport sur le développement humain de 2001.
