    أدت الاحتجاجات التي اندلعت في ليبيا ضد حكم العقيد معمر القذافي وأعمال القتال التي تبعتها إلى فرار الآلاف من رعايا الدول الأخرى من البلاد براً أو جواً أو بحراً.

    وأفادت المنظمة الدولية للهجرة أنه من بين نحو 1.2 مليون شخص فروا من ليبيا منذ بدء الأزمة، كان أكثر من النصف تقريباً من العمال المهاجرين، وقد شهد العديد منهم أو شاركوا في الأحداث المؤلمة قبل أن يلوذوا بالفرار.
     
    ويقوم بعضهم برحلات خطرة في قوارب صغيرة للوصول إلى جزيرة لامبيدوسا الإيطالية، حيث تقوم الشرطة الإيطالية بإنهاء الإجراءات اللازمة قبل حصولهم على التأشيرات وإرسالهم إلى مناطق أخرى في إيطاليا. وتنشط العديد من منظمات الإغاثة في الجزيرة وتلعب دوراً بارزاً في مساعدة المهاجرين. ومعرض الصور هذا يلتقط بعض المشاهد في لامبيدوسا.
