SWAPO youth wing vows to kill separatist rebels

The youth wing of Namibia’s ruling SWAPO party has threatened to kill alleged separatist rebels if they are released on bail, news reports said.

Paulus Kapia, the head of the SWAPO Youth League, said that if any of the 129 people arrested for backing an armed campaign were let out on bail, members of his organisation would kill them, ‘The Namibian’ newspaper reported. “We are trained and we will kill them if they come out. Whoever is responsible for granting bail to these people should pack and go,” Kapia said.

On Monday 70 of the 129 suspects facing an array of charges including murder, high treason and public violence appeared in court at the northern town of Grootfontein to hear that their case had been postponed until 23 January next year.
