Refugees denied asylum

    ABIDJAN

    A group of 66 refugees from the Great Lakes who had intended to leave Mozambique, allegedly because of poor living conditions have been denied entry into Swaziland, the Maputo daily ‘Noticias’, said at the weekend.

    The refugees had demonstrated last Friday in front of the offices of the UNHCR in Maputo, complaining of poor living conditions at the Bobole refugee camp, about 40 km north of Maputo. The paper said that the Swazi authorities had refused to let them into Swaziland and they had to be taken back to the Bobole camp.
