Nomadic herders remember US victims

Thousands of nomads from Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria who had gathered on Saturday in the region of InGall in northern Niger joined other members of the international community in remembering the victims of last week's attacks in the United States, AFP reported.

The herders observed one minute's silence in memory of the victims.

The mainly Arab, Fulani and Tuareg herders had gathered for an annual ceremony in which nomads bring their livestock to InGall, famous for its salt licks, and use the opportunity to discuss socio-political issues and other national affairs, and for social ceremonies such as weddings and baptisms.
