Opposition leader barred from Paris flight

Despite the repeal of a travel ban on political leaders, security forces barred opposition political Alassane Ouattara from boarding a flight to Paris on Thursday. Ouattara, leader of the Rassemblement des Republicains, was to travel to honour longstanding engagements, the party newspaper, ‘Le Patriote’ reported on Friday. He was prevented from boarding the Air France jetliner at Abidjan’s Felix Houphouet-Boigny International Airport by a captain in the gendarmerie, the paper said. The travel ban introduced on 16 May was rescinded on Tuesday.
