The UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and President Jerry Rawlings opened an
exhibit on Friday entitled "UN Peacekeeping: A Half Century of Experience," marking UN peacekeeping and honouring Ghana's efforts to support it around the world, the UN reported.
During the ceremony, Annan also presented three plaques to
Ghana's government, one in honour of its dead peacekeepers, another to the
armed forces and a third to the police. He commended the courage and
professionalism of Ghanaian troops, honouring the 98 who died while serving
as UN peacekeepers.
