برنامج الأغذية العالمي يعيد تركيز مساعداته في أفغانستان

أفادت تشاليس ماكدونو، المتحدثة باسم برنامج الأغذية العالمي التابع للأمم المتحدة أن نقص التمويل أجبر المنظمة على تقليص برامج التعافي الخاصة بها في نحو نصف أقاليم أفغانستان البالغ مجموعها 34 إقليماً.

وأضافت تشاليس في حديث لشبكة الأنباء الإنسانية (إيرين):"نحن بحاجة إلى إعادة تركيز أنشطتنا للاستمرار في دعم أولئك الذين هم في أشد الحاجة إلى المساعدة، خصوصاً في الأقاليم التي تضم أكبر عدد من الأشخاص الذين يعانون من درجات مرتفعة من انعدام الأمن الغذائي...كما سنواصل برامج التغذية المدرسية في الجنوب نظراً للدور التي تلعبه في تشجيع الأطفال، وخاصة الفتيات، على الالتحاق بالمدارس".

ويحتاج البرنامج إلى 200 مليون دولار للوصول إلى السبعة ملايين مستهدف الذين يسعى إلى الوصول إليهم ولكن مساعداته تصل إلى 3.8 ملايين منهم فقط في الوقت الحالي. وقال جيران برادلي، نائب المدير القطري لبرنامج الأغذية العالمي: "كان علينا اتخاذ بعض القرارات الصعبة جداً حول كيفية إعادة تركيز عملنا في أفغانستان بسبب نقص التمويل".

ويأتي خفض المساعدات في وقت تستعد فيه أفغانستان لمواجهة نقص كبير في المواد الغذائية خلال الأشهر المقبلة.
