سوريا: الاضطرابات تشكل خطراً على الأمن الغذائي

     أفادت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة (الفاو) أن استمرار الاضطرابات في سوريا لن يؤثر فقط على النمو الاقتصادي في البلاد، بل سيعطل كذلك قنوات توزيع المواد الغذائية مما سيسبب نقصاً حاداً في الأسواق الرئيسية على المستوى المحلي.

    ووفقاً للفاو، ارتفعت الأسعار في 2010 بنسبة 16.3 بالمائة مع ارتفاع أسعار الخضار بنسبة 80 بالمائة. أما هذا العام، فمن المتوقع أن يكون إنتاج الحبوب دون المتوسط. وتستضيف سوريا أحد أكبر تجمعات اللاجئين في المناطق الحضرية في العالم، بما في ذلك ما يقرب من مليون عراقي أصبحوا أكثر عرضة للخطر بسبب ارتفاع أسعار الغذاء والوقود.

    وقد بدأت سوريا في فبراير بتوزيع مبالغ نقدية على 420,000 أسرة مستضعفة وخفضت بعض الضرائب في محاولة لوضع حد لانعدام الأمن الغذائي وارتفاع معدلات الفقر.

    وقد اجتاح العنف سوريا خلال الأشهر القليلة الماضية مع استمرار الاحتجاجات ضد حكومة الرئيس بشار الأسد. وفي 20 مايو، تحدثت التقارير عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 44 شخصاً في مختلف أنحاء البلاد ولكن الحكومة قدرت العدد بنحو 17 فقط ملقية اللوم على ما أسمتهم بالعصابات. ويقول ناشطو حقوق الإنسان أن 850 شخصاً على الأقل قتلوا منذ مارس.
