    أكمل فريق الأمم المتحدة المعني بمكافحة الألغام في قطاع غزة تدمير ذخائر الفوسفور الأبيض التي خلفتها عملية "الرصاص المصبوب" العسكرية التي شنتها إسرائيل في قطاع غزة بين شهري ديسمبر 2008 ويناير 2009.

    وفي هذا السياق، أخبرت شيلا بلاك، أخصائية الدعم في فريق مكافحة الألغام، شبكة الأنباء الإنسانية (إيرين) في مدينة غزة أن "الذخائر غير المنفجرة الأكثر شيوعاً التي وجدت في غزة تتمثل في قذائف الهاون والصواريخ والقنابل وقنابل الفوسفور الأبيض والألغام مثل ألغام M-15 المضادة للدبابات". وأوضحت بلاك أن فريق مكافحة الألغام عمل لأكثر من عام على تقييم خطر التلوث في 1,642 موقعاً معظمها مواقع سكنية. ويعتقد أن تكون الإصابات التي فاق عددها 44 إصابة، من بينها 10 حالات وفاة، ناتجة عن الذخائر غير المنفجرة.

    وقد كشف الفريق عن 355 قطعة ذخيرة غير منفجرة من بينها 71 لغماً مضاداً للدبابات و63 شظية فوسفور أبيض، بالإضافة إلى 2,100 ذخيرة للأسلحة الخفيفة. كما قامت السلطات المحلية بتسليم ذخائر فسفور أبيض إضافية.

    وأوضح مارك راسل، مسؤول العمليات بالفريق، أن الفوسفور الأبيض يتفاعل مع الأكسجين "وبمجرد تعرضه للهواء يحترق بشدة وبسرعة كبيرة وبعمق على أية مادة يلمسها بما في ذلك الجسم البشري". كما يمكن للفسفور الأبيض الذي يتم استخدامه في الدخان والتتبع والذخائر المضيئة أن يتسبب في حروق خطيرة أو في الوفاة.
