Bunia rebels hold talks with visiting UN officials

Ugandan-backed Front pour la liberation du Congo (FLC) rebel movement national secretary of mobilisation and propaganda Roger Lumbala, also serving in his capacity as acting vice-president of the Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie (RCD-Kisangani) rebel movement during the absence of Jean-Baptiste Tibasima Mbogemu Atenyi, held talks on Saturday with a visiting delegation from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Speaking after the meeting to Bunia-based Congolese National Radio and Television (RTNC), Lumbala said the talks focused on the withdrawal of foreign troops in the territory under his organisations' control. "We also discussed the current [security] situation in Lubero and Beni territories. [We tried] to focus on places where the so-called "negative forces" [armed non-signatories to the Lusaka peace agreement] are, in order to try and implement the disarmament process with the aim of bringing back peace to the DRC."
