Kolingba’s wife flees to unknown destination

Members of an armed group in the Central Africa Republic (CAR) have claimed responsibility for the abduction of the wife of former CAR president and suspected May coup attempt plotter, Andre Kolingba, from the French embassy where she had sought refuge after the abortive 28 May coup. Radio France Internationale (RFI) quoted the rebels as saying that they wanted to help Kolingba’s spouse leave the country. She reportedly crossed the Oubangui river and sought refuge for a while in Kinshasa. “After a stay in Zongo, Mrs. Kolingba and her three children, who left the French embassy on Friday 24 August night apparently boarded a small plane for another destination where she reportedly met her husband,” RFI quoted a source as saying.
