Government seeks reconciliation, stability through dialogue

Foreign Minister Leonard She Okitundu, designated to head the DRC government’s delegation to this week’s inter-Congolese pre-dialogue meeting in Gaborone, Botswana, told Gabonese Africa No 1 radio on Sunday that his government “will not only actively participate in the pre-dialogue meeting, but also in the dialogue per se, to make sure that the country reconciles with itself and endows itself with institutions that will ensure political stability - a prerequisite for the reconstruction of our country.” As to the location of the dialogue, Okitundu said the DRC government “believes it is preferable to hold the dialogue within the country; whether in Kisangani or Kinshasa, it is all the same. Indeed, if the dialogue were to be held in Kisangani, it would be great because not only would it show our solidarity with the wounded people of Kisangani, but it would also testify that the people of DRC are determined to maintain their unity and territorial integrity.”
