They said that the members of the Forces nationales de liberation (FNL) had set fire to a military post at Gihosha late on Saturday. “The soldiers withdrew and killed a rebel in a counter-attack,” they said. In a related incident, the home of a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) pastor in Mutanga was looted by rebel attackers in his absence, AFP quoted the pastor’s wife as saying. It quoted neighbours as saying that the clergyman’s house had been targeted because the SDA church had criticised FNL, many of whom are members of that church.
