Meanwhile, young boys and girls from Rumonge Commune in southwestern Burundi in Bururi Province who had been enrolled into rebel ranks were continuing to return home, Burundi news agency ABP said on Tuesday. It quoted local government officials of the Kizuka zone, southwestern Burundi as saying they had received six young people who had left their families to join the rebels. The move reportedly followed an operation by young people “rehabilitated” during the past three weeks on the foothills overlooking Rumonge Commune. Last week, a young man was also received by officials in the Minago zone, southwestern Burundi. He had deserted the Ubwari rebel camp in South Kivu, eastern DRC.
