Tens of thousands of displaced near Fizi

    NAIROBI

    Between 120,000 and 150,000 displaced people are reported to have fled to the Wari peninsula, near Fizi in South Kivu province. According to an OCHA report from Kinshasa, some of them have escaped fighting in the Ruzizi plain, but others are arriving from the refugee camps in Tanzania. Their condition is described as “extremely worrying”. OCHA said difficulties in accessing them were limiting humanitarian interventions.
