A coalition of local human rights groups has condemned the fighting between Rwandan and Ugandan forces in Kisangani and called on the two governments to respect the Lusaka ceasefire agreement on the DRC. In addition to civilian casualties, the fighting had damaged the city’s infrastructure, including the Kisangani general hospital, university clinics, the office of the Radio-Television Nationale Congolaise (RTNC), and several other public and private buildings, the Reseau Droits Humains said in a statement received by IRIN on Wednesday. “Kisangani’s population is confronted with restrictions in its free movement, increases in the price of basic goods, difficulties in treating the wounded, problems in burying the dead and uncertainty about the immediate future,” it said.
