UNITA dissident Eugenio Manuvakola has added his voice to government appeals for UNITA soldiers to abandon rebel leader Jonas Savimbi and lay down their weapons.
Manuvakola, the head of UNITA-Renovada, told Angolan radio over the weekend that Angolans “should be reconciled. They should rid themselves of prejudice nurtured during all these years of war. The UNITA leadership hails the courageous soldiers and officers who served Jonas Savimbi, but have since embraced the cause of peace and democracy.”
