Heavy snow and avalanches often inflict human loss and property damage in winter in Afghanistan

Three people were killed, two were injured and 18 families displaced from their homes by snowstorms in the Paryan District of Panjshir Province, in the north of Afghanistan, according to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). 

 

About 46,000 people in 111 villages have been hit by heavy snowfall in the mountainous province. ISAF said its forces delivered winter supplies, including blankets, clothes, boots, charcoal and wheat flour  to the affected people .
