Fresh elections slated for April, 2000

    Fresh elections are to be held in Lesotho in April next year to settle the political controversy over last year's polls, Reuters reported on Wednesday. The interim political authority (IPA) running Lesotho in the wake of last year's attempted coup, has set a provisional date of April 8 next year. "Even though we have put forward this tentative date for the election, we still haven't agreed on a number of issues,'' IPA co-chairman Lekhetho Ratuoane told Reuters. He identified the voting model and funding of the election as key issues that were still unresolved.
