Meanwhile, British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook said at a news conference yesterday in Abidjan that Britain felt the best hope for ending the conflict in Sierra Leone was a combination of talks and pressure.
“I am clear that what is required for success in Sierra Leone is the dual strategy of maintaining firm military pressure on the rebels but at the same time offering negotiations for reconciliation,” he said.
