    Before leaving for Arusha on Tuesday, President Pierre Buyoya also called for “avoiding haste” in concluding a peace accord. “For me there are two issues,” he told reporters, according to Burundi’s Umwizero radio. “Firstly to reach compromises where these do not exist. Secondly, to tackle the question of a ceasefire with the rebels. If that work is done before the 28th [August], and we all agree that the job has been done...there will be no problem.” However, if more time was needed “then it should be given”, he stressed.
