Eleven mutineers convicted

    Eleven soldiers who took part in a mutiny on 27 March in Daloa, central Cote d’Ivoire, were sentenced by a military court to prison terms ranging from 6 to 18 months, the state-owned ‘Fraternite Matin’ reported on Friday.

    The charges against them included voluntary homicide (a sergeant died in the mutiny), rebellion, revolt and insubordination. Another seven suspects were acquitted by the court, which is also scheduled to hear the cases of 35 soldiers suspected of being involved in a mutiny on 4-5 July.
