The leader of South Africa's Independent Democrats (ID) party, Patricia de Lille, has expressed scepticism over the government's plan for HIV/AIDS treatment.
In what signalled a massive shift in the government's approach to the pandemic, the cabinet recently gave the Department of Health a September deadline for an operational HIV/AIDS drug rollout plan.
However, De Lille has accused the government of using HIV/AIDS treatment as an election ploy.
The local Sunday Times newspaper quoted De Lille as saying: "I'll only believe it when I see it. I always predicted that a couple of months before the elections the government would provide antiretroviral drugs."
De Lille was recently honoured in two countries for her work in the fields of HIV/AIDS and human rights.
