Feeding scheme targets HIV/AIDS

    People living with HIV/AIDS in the Central African Republic (CAR) are set to benefit from a new World Food Programme. WFP said it would provide enriched food rations to people living with HIV/AIDS to help them fight opportunistic infections. "People living with HIV/AIDS need significant nutritional support in order to fight all the diseases that accompany the disease," WFP representative in the CAR, David Bulman, told the UN news service PlusNews. Bulman said most people living with HIV/AIDS spent great sums of money tackling opportunistic infections, so that they had no money left over for food. He confirmed that widows and orphans of the HIV/AIDS pandemic would also benefit from the 15-month project, due to begin in July.
