An international HIV/AIDS conference in Kenya from 21 to 26 September will focus on improved care, local newspaper The East African Standard reported on Thursday.
The International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) could bring together more than 8,000 delegates from around the globe.
"The delegates will review advances in addressing HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections in Africa from a socio-economic, cultural, political and scientific standpoint," Kenyan Security Minister, Chris Murungaru, said.
Because HIV/AIDS posed such a great challenge to global health care systems and communities, this year's theme would be "Improving Access to Care".
Although 30 percent of Kenyan adults were living with HIV/AIDS, only 10 percent had access to palliative care or treatment for opportunistic infections.
