HIV/AIDS brochures remain an effective means of raising awareness levels throughout most of Africa, a US-based NGO said on Tuesday.
The Nduaka Educational Foundation (NEF) found this was especially true of rural Africa where many people had little or no access to modern technology.
"The old-fashioned brochure circulates quickly and without hiccups. Even when discarded, there is still a possibility that it would be read," NEF president, Chudy Nduaka, told the UN news service PlusNews.
Nduaka said this was part of the inspiration for the recent circulation of NEF's HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment brochure in Africa.
However, Nduaka expressed concern over funding to make the brochure available in the vast number of local languages.
