Japanese funds for health sector

    ABIDJAN

    The government of Japan, in an effort to help Senegal improve its health sector, has donated medical aid and other equipment worth some 2.6 billion FCFA (US $3.5 million), the pro-government Le Soleil quoted a health ministry communiqué as saying. The equipment would help increase the fight against malaria and mother-and-child illnesses.

    Specifically, the health ministry will receive 200,000 mosquito nets to be impregnated with some 3500 litres of insecticide, as well as 300 anti-malaria kits. It will receive 32 motorbikes, 16 vehicles, as well as 300 freezers. An official handover ceremony will take place on Friday in the capital Dakar.
