A delegation from the UN mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo traveled to the government-held town of Kamina in Katanga province on Thursday to discuss "the modalities of work on the ground" with respect to the disarmament of some 3,000 demobilised Rwandan Hutu rebels who have been gathered at a military base there. A UN spokesman in Kinshasa said that after a review of the delegation's one-day visit, plans would be made for a technical committee to travel to Kamina to conduct an informational survey of the demobilised soldiers.
