Anti-terrorism committee holds first meeting

The Djibouti anti-terrorist committee held its first working meeting on Monday, the Djibouti news agency ADI reported on Monday. The committee was set up on 3 October by presidential decree in keeping with the UN resolution compelling all member states to starve terrorist networks of financial and logistical support. The seven-member committee, headed by Justice Minister Isma'il Ibrahim Houmed, met to examine existing laws on terrorism, said ADI. The committee has the power to coordinate the work of the various government departments to adopt the best strategy in the fight against terrorism. It could also take the necessary actions to suppress and eradicate any terrorist act perpetrated on Djibouti territory, said ADI.
