Kabila, Kagame to meet in Malawi

Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) President Joseph Kabila and Rwandan President Paul Kagame will meet in Blantyre on Wednesday for two days of talks expected to focus on advancing the peace process in the DRC, Radio Rwanda announced in Kigali. The meeting was arranged by Malawi President Bakili Muluzi. Muluzi is the current chairman of the 14-nation Southern African Development Community, which has mandated him to try to accelerate peace in DRC. Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda back splintered rebel groups fighting to overthrow Kabila's government, and still have troops in the DRC. Kabila is supported by armies from Angola, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
