Abducted fishermen released

The 28 fishermen who were abducted on Tuesday morning on Lake Tanganyika have been freed without any ransom being paid, local Burundi radio, Bonesha, reported on Wednesday. It quoted family members of the fishermen as saying in Rumonge that they were released on Tuesday night. The abductors who were rebels of the Forces pour la defense de la democratie (FDD) and those of the Forces nationales pour la liberation (FNL) retained the fishermen’s boat along with another one which belonged to Burundi army.
