Abdullahi Yusuf’s brother killed

The elder brother of Colonel Abdullahi Yusuf, was killed by gunmen on Tuesday, local sources told IRIN. Dahir Yusuf Ahmad was on his way to Bosaso, the commercial capital of the self-declared autonomous region of Puntland, northeastern Somalia, when gunmen stopped his vehicle, told him to get out, then killed him, Adan Abdirahman Dolar, editor of the Garowe-based ‘Nugal Times’, told IRIN. Dahir was killed at Karin Dhig, about 100 km north of Garowe, the regional capital, he said. Spokesman Abdirazzaq Abdi Daab for the Bosaso-based interim administration of Yusuf Haji Nur told IRIN that there was shock over “this senseless killing”. Dahir’s body was brought to Garowe where he was buried today (Wednesday) Adan Dolar told IRIN.
