MSF aids IDPs

    ABIDJAN

    Medecins sans frontieres said on Thursday it had started providing aid to inmates in a camp for the displaced at Jenne Manna, southwest of Gbarnga town, in Liberia’s Bong County.

    MSF has been providing water, shelter and medical care, and has launched a yellow fever and measles vaccination drive for children under five years old in the camp, whose inmates fled fighting in neighbouring Lofa Country between government troops and dissidents.

    In Gbarnga, MSF has set up a therapeutic feeding centre for 82 severely malnourished children, and a health facility able to provide at least 100 consultations daily. In addition, three planes arrived in Monrovia recently with medical and logistical material to support MSF’s various programmes.
