Many IDPs unaccounted for

    ABIDJAN

    There is increasing concern within the humanitarian community over the large numbers of people displaced by insecurity within Sierra Leone and in need of assistance, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported on Monday.

    Nearly 50,000 of the 220,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs)
    registered by aid agencies were displaced in the last three weeks, OCHA said. It is believed that many other IDPs have been unaccounted for because they are in inaccessible areas, OCHA said.
