Food donation from US

    JOHANNESBURG

    The Namibian government will receive a donation of food worth over US $500,000 for Angolan refugees from the United States next week, the Namibian Press Agency (NPA) reported on Thursday.

    The NPA quoted a statement issued by the US embassy in Windhoek, as saying that US Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration Julia Taft will visit the Osire refugee camp in Namibia next Monday and hand over nearly 800 mt of food, including grain, corn, soya blend, beans and vegetable oil.

    The US contribution will make up 96 percent of an appeal from the World Food Program for the Osire refugee camp, the statement said. According to the statement, the food will be brought in from Angola instead of being shipped from the US.
