A military training course for the region’s senior army officers opened this week in Namibia aimed at improving the Southern African Development Community (SADC)’s peacekeeping capacity, ‘The Namibian’ reported on Tuesday.
“SADC is faced with a daunting task of establishing its own peacekeeping mechanism. Recent developments in the region have made this task even more urgent,” Minister of Defence Erkki Nghimtina said in his opening remarks at the Osona Military School where the British-funded course is being held.
