The department of health for South Africa's Free State Province has announced the commencement on Monday of what is set to become the country's third antiretroviral roll out programme.
The free roll out will kick off at one hospital and three clinics in the north-central town of Welkom.
Departmental spokeswoman, Elke de Witt told the South African Press Association that 61 health officials had already undergone training to implement the province's programme.
The first group of HIV-positive people are expected to receive treatment by June, De Witt said.
