Mandela's wife urges shared AIDS lessons

Graca Machel, wife of former South African President Nelson Mandela, has urged Uganda to share the lessons learned from its fight against HIV/AIDS with the rest of Africa, Agence France Presse (AFP) reported on Tuesday. It is estimated that the rate of new HIV/AIDS infections in Uganda has dropped from 30 percent in 1990 to 5 percent at present. "We need you [Ugandans] to show others that this can be done," Machel said. Currently on week-long visit to Uganda, Machel is set to meet with Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni before embarking on a tour of rural areas hard-hit by the pandemic.
