New human rights resource website launched

A non-profit charity based in the United States, the Centre for the Prevention of Genocide, has launched a human rights resource website, the centre reported on Monday. The centre was founded in October 2000 as an affiliate organisation of Improve the World International "to educate the public, policy makers and scholars to the enduring problem of genocide". In a statement issued from its Arlington, Virginia, headquarters, the centre described the new website www.genocideprevention.org as one of the world's few early warning systems for the detection of genocidal activity. The centre collects information from the field, then forwards it to appropriate international and national authorities, other NGOs and the media. "Now the public, policymakers, human rights NGOs, scholars and journalists can access the most recent reports of genocidal activities, by country, as they are confirmed and updated on the website’s new Hotspot Micro-Reports feature," the centre said. The website contains the latest edition of "The Genocide Prevention Quarterly", the centre’s academic journal featuring articles from genocide scholars, policy experts and witnesses to acts of genocide.
