The Mozambican government hopes to spend US $300 million over the next five years to tackle the spread of HIV/AIDS, the Associated Press (AP) reported on Monday.
Prime Minister Pascoal Mocumbi recently confirmed that the government's new "integrated approach" would focus on HIV/AIDS care as well as prevention.
Mocumbi said: "Authorities were not satisfied with the current HIV/AIDS campaign. An estimated 500 to 700 Mozambicans are infected daily."
Support was expected from international organisations, which could include former US President Bill Clinton's foundation, he said.
