Seven arrested at school AIDS gathering

A school HIV/AIDS meeting was recently disrupted by Zimbabwe's riot police, the South African Press Association (SAPA) reported on Friday. Around thirty baton-wielding policemen broke up the gathering of some 1,000 secondary school pupils and arrested seven people, including two teachers. Public gatherings held without police permission are illegal under the country's strict Public Order and Security Act. "None of the children were seriously injured except a few who had minor bruises," the event organiser, Innocent Ncube, said.
