HIV/AIDS prevalence rates rise

HIV/AIDS prevalence rates are on the rise among adults in Mozambique, Agencia de Informacao de Mocambique (AIM) reported on Wednesday. Deputy Health Minister, Aida Libombo, said ministry figures indicated a significant rise from 12.2 percent last year to the current 14.6 percent. Addressing parliament, Libombo stressed the importance of diagnosis and treatment of other sexually transmitted infections as a means of preventing HIV infection. She called for the participation of all sectors to effectively tackle the country's HIV/AIDS pandemic.
