Neglected in the provision of education, health and employment services - and lacking in political clout, the Republic of Congo's Pygmies, can now look forward to a better life, now that UNICEF Congo and its partners are collaborating to improve these basic services to communities the northern region of Sangha. The Pygmy and Bantu communities will participate in developing integrated basic services within their villages, which would thereby gain better access to health, education and water supply services, and improved food production. This, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) says, will be achieved by establishing community health centres and schools, and through the provision of agricultural tools, seeds, and micro-credit projects. [UNICEF's Kent Page takes a look at this community through the eyes of Lundi Mohjembo in a feature article entitled "Paris, Congo: A day in the life of a Pygmy girl called Lundi". [See the feature]
